Getting Started with Truck Genie

Welcome to Truck Genie! This guide walks you through everything you need to get your fleet up and running. Most customers are fully set up within 30 minutes.

Step-by-Step Setup

Create Your Account

Sign up at my.truckgenie.app/join. Enter your company name, email, and create a password. Your 30-day free trial starts immediately, no credit card required.

Add Your Company Information

Enter your company name, address, and DOT number (if applicable). This information appears on work orders and reports.

Add Your Trucks / Units

Add each vehicle in your fleet. For each unit you'll enter: unit number (your internal identifier), year, make, model, VIN (optional but recommended), and current mileage. Takes about 2 minutes per truck.

Invite Your Team

Add drivers, mechanics, and other team members who need access. Each user gets their own login. Drivers will primarily use the mobile app for DVIRs; mechanics and managers use the web dashboard.

Set Up Preventive Maintenance Schedules

For each unit, set up PM schedules for your key service intervals, oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, DOT annual inspection, etc. Truck Genie will track these automatically and alert you before service is due. See our PM Scheduling Guide for details.

Create Your First Work Order

Log something real, even if it's a small repair. This gets you familiar with the workflow and creates your first piece of service history. See our Work Orders Guide for a full walkthrough.

Have a Driver Submit a DVIR

Download the Truck Genie mobile app (available on iOS and Android) and have a driver walk through their first digital inspection. It takes under a minute. See our DVIR Guide for details.

Pro Tip Focus on getting 3 to 5 trucks set up with PM schedules and one completed DVIR in your first day. Once you see how it works, adding the rest of your fleet goes much faster.

Your First Week Checklist

All trucks/units added to the system
PM schedules set for each unit (at least oil changes and DOT annual)
All drivers and mechanics invited and logged in
At least one work order created for a real repair
At least one DVIR submitted from the mobile app
